This video shows scenes of my home town Melbourne during a massive storm cell or mini cyclone that unleashed havoc throughout the city and suburbs on Saturday. Large hailstones some the size the of tennis balls smashed through roofs and car windscreens. Public transport came to a standstill stranding travellers , and many buildings had to be evacuated. The second part of the video shows Melbourne how it usually looks.

@indieminorbird Hello Lisa
From what I have read the clouds formed a shelf-like appearance and there were small vortices of ‘funnel looking’ clouds. Not your typical large funnels that you would normally see in cyclones. Thanks for watching. Deb

@noypok Thanks you very much Jerome :)

@noypok seems like nature is testing us more and more doesn’t it. Fortunately no one was badly hurt in the storm, but you know many people are still waiting for insurance claims to come through so they can re-build. I think that is a terrible shame.
Melbourne is a beautiful place to live I hope you visit one day.

thats so devastating same what happen in Manila Philippines last September 2009 and it seems that nature sometimes hav a thing called testing our faith to cling on things what we have!no matter how strong we are if nature takes his revenge,we dont have a control of it!yay!Melbourne is such a fascinating city in Australia!i dream that someday i can visit Australia!my employer before in the Philippines is from Wollogong.and we work together for 5 years!i would say he is a great Aussie!

Melbourne Storm reminds me of the disasters happening all over the world which is really alarming…Melbourne before the storm really looks great! It reminds me of my visit in New Zealand. There’s a lot of similarities. I definitely plan to go to Australia soon. Thanks Deb for sharing! Great video! :)

Oh Shelley thank God our storm was nothing like what you guys went through with Katrina that was devastating :(

232323C September 5, 2010

wow, you guys got hit hard. yes, weather patterns are revealing the greater changes going on in this age we live…..sends chills…..great song for the vid. “Umbrella” however i am not sure an umbrella would have helped much against those hailstones! Here in nh we got hit hard with SNOW……..its still on the ground as I type…the earth is speaking to us all…..
good vid! stay dry! ;O)
